Salute to Vienna New Year’s Concert is a joyful, lively experience that has delighted audiences in Miami for more than 15 years. Every holiday season, this beloved tradition bursts to life at the Adrienne Arsht Center with music, bright costumes and lush flowers. As dancers enliven timeless melodies, including the Blue Danube Waltz, the maestro regales the audience with stories (and a joke or two) from the conductor’s podium. Kamasi Washington is a jazz multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer born and raised in Los Angeles. His acclaimed recordings include The Epic; Harmony of Difference; Heaven and Earth; and Fearless Movement. In 2020, Washington scored Becoming, Netflix's documentary on first lady Michelle Obama, and was nominated for Grammy and Emmy awards for his contributions. Washington has toured the world and collaborated with Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Florence + the Machine, Herbie Hancock, André 3000, Lauryn Hill, Robert Glasper, Flying Lotus, George Clinton and many others.

De La Soul are a revolutionary force in hip-hop. Upon its arrival in 1989, their debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, sounded like nothing else, with a colorful, almost collaged production aesthetic and rhyme styles that were equal parts clever and goofy. As founding members of the Native Tongues collective alongside A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers and Queen Latifah, De La Soul were pioneers of a hip-hop movement that has influenced countless artists.

De La Soul incorporates not only funk and soul, but also pop, jazz, reggae and psychedelia samples into their strange and alluring patchwork of sounds.

Renowned Venezuelan comedian Emilio Lovera presents Now the Thug Is Really Scared to delight a nostalgic audience with his signature humor. The highlight of the night will undoubtedly be “El Carro de Drácula [Dracula's Car],” a comedic story that became a hit across Latin America through bootleg recordings. Lovera will also deliver his trademark analysis of the typical Venezuelan, explore the concept of “criolla liveliness” and discuss Latin American urban legends such as La Llorona, the Weeping Woman and El Silbón, the Whistler. Lovera will showcase the best of Venezuelan humor and perform fan-favorite musical numbers.
