The Elixir of Love

February 1-4, 2025

L’elisir d’amore
By Gaetano Donizetti

In The Elixir of Love, village lad Nemorino is smitten with Adina, a young woman of independent mind and means. Weary of Nemorino’s adoration, Adina marries swaggering sergeant Belcore. In desperation, Nemorino invests his hope and meager finances in a love potion. From the uproarious “Wedding Duet” to the poignant “Una furtiva lagrima,” Gaetano Donizetti’s music boasts soulful melodies and comedic charm. Felice Romani’s witty libretto and scenario set the stage for laughter and love.

The Elixir of Love will be performed in Italian with English- and Spanish-projected translations.
