Called a "chamber orchestra for the 21st century" by The New York Times, Nu Deco Ensemble's performances have featured collaborations with artists including Wyclef Jean, Larkin Poe, Macy Gray, Jacob Collier, and Ben Folds; reimagined orchestral suites of the music of Daft Punk, Queen, Outkast, and Aretha Franklin; and new music from some of today's most exciting living composers.
This performance will feature George Walker’s “Lyric for Strings”, a Nu Deco reimagination of Valerie Coleman’s “Afro Cuban Concerto,” and a symphonic exploration of the music of the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. The culmination of this concert will be the world premiere of a commission from GRAMMY® and Emmy award-winning artist, Robert Glasper, as well as music from his extended catalog.
