Branford Marsalis is one of the most influential and revered figures in contemporary music. The NEA Jazz Master, Grammy Award winner, Tony Award and Emmy nominee is equally at home performing concertos with symphony orchestras and sitting in with members of the Grateful Dead, but the Branford Marsalis Quartet remains his primary means of expression.
After more than three decades, this celebrated ensemble – featuring saxophonist Branford Marsalis, pianist Joey Calderazzo, bassist Eric Revis (each with more than 20 years of service to the group) and drummer Nazir Ebo – is revered for its uncompromising interpretations of original compositions and jazz and popular classics. After the Grammy-nominated Upward Spiral, on which guest vocalist Kurt Elling was seamlessly integrated into the group, the quartet followed up with the Grammy-nominated 2019 album The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul, its most emotionally wide-ranging and melody-driven collection to date.
Please note that all personnel with the exception of Branford Marsalis is subject to change.
