Mlima’s Tale
A Florida Premiere
By Lynn Nottage
Directed by Stuart Meltzer
Mlima is a magnificent elephant trapped by the underground international ivory market. As he follows a trail littered by a history of greed, Mlima takes us on a journey through memory, fear, tradition and the penumbra between want and need. Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage (MJ the Musical) of Sweat and Ruined, Mlima’s Tale is a captivating and haunting fable come to life.
This multimedia production features movement direction by Miami City Ballet choreographer Herman Payne and film curation by Delavega. Enjoy talkbacks with Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill after Sunday, October 23 and Saturday, October 29 performances.
Note: This production includes mature content.

The New York Times“A beautiful, endlessly echoing portrait of a murder and its afterlife. Ms. Nottage shaped this story with such theatrical inventiveness and discipline that it never feels sensational.”
The Wall Street Journal"An enthralling piece of theater that tells a fascinating story in a daringly original way. … Riveting.”
