Dr. Deborah Brown is a uniquely gifted and anointed jewel not only to the body of Christ but throughout the South Florida communities, State and as an International recording Artist, conference speaker, seminar teacher, workshop facilitator and psalmist and minstrel extraordinaire. She holds B.S. M.S. PhD degrees in music and religious Education and is the founder and executive director of the Florida based Zamar School of Performing Arts, since 1997 which have trained thousands of youth & adults in music, violin, band, piano, voice, drama, drums and dance. Zamar is noted by Sun Sentinel, Westside Gazette, Sun Times and Miami Herald as one of South Florida outstanding schools that have prepared students for music careers, church music, competitions and universities. She offers a music ministry consultant service, which provides training and support to churches with needs in development and coordination within their music ministries. Dr. Brown evangelistic ministry began over 15 years ago which later shut down a crack house and turned it into a vibrant Performing Arts School along with Higher Praise Ministries & Singers that met the needs of the whole man within the inner city communities. This ministry coordinated the premiere Easter Mega-Fest that attracted thousands of attendees, monthly Gospel in the Park, Food Distribution, and Clothing and Toy Drive.
Dr Brown’s organization and Music Ministry Leadership skills is premiere and spans over two decades with the following ministries:
- Hallandale COG organized Women of Praise Choir, String Ensemble, Assistant to the Pastor & Outstanding Director of Ministries Development & Worship
- Mt. Olive Baptist Church developed and expanded the Youth & Young Adult Choir to 100 voices, showcased as outstanding youth group in the state and Baptist association under the leadership of Dr. Mack K Carter
- Holy Redeemer COGIC - trained ten undeveloped singers that grew to fifty and became the premiere choir of Western Florida Jurisdiction Convention also featured in concert with Rev. Timothy Wright. The place that housed the 1st School of Music, under the leadership of spiritual father Bishop Harvey D. Bryan
- Newbirth Cathedral established a Levitical Music Institute that produced a 200 Voice Mass Choir featured in concert under Bishop Victor T. Curry
- Cathedral Church of God music department organization, music & spiritual growth to choirs. Implemented 1st Workshops, Easter Production & music gala. Expansion and development of the Youth Choir representing County & State as 1st Place winners and went to National Teen Talent San Antonio Texas.
- Friendship Baptist Church- Presently Dr. Brown serves as Director of Worship & Fine Arts Dr. Gaston Smith, Pastor. A three-week assignment has turned into 2 yrs. of musical bliss which includes organization of a worship team, 14 week vocal training to 30 undeveloped singers that has grown into 75 premiere Voices of the Ship; Organized The Friendship Chorale, a community of singers and musicians who has sung on National stage with Kim Burrell and Adrienne Arsht Center performance with Miami Mass Choir; nominated Outstanding Church Choir and Choir Director of the year by Tampa Bay Gospel Music Awards 2017, presented a premiere Soulful Celebration Christmas production featuring the South Florida Fellowship Orchestra. Her passion for music education led her to organize the Friendship Church Music Institute.
- GMWA Co-founder of the South Florida Mass Choir where Dr. Brown served as Chapter Representative and Co-Chair with Dr. Rodena Preston on the New Music & Selection Committee for GMW A recording projects under the leadership of Rev. James Cleveland.
Dr. Brown’s Awards and recognition includes City of Hallandale Beach MLK Humanitarian Award, Proclamation Recipient of African Americans Who made significant contributions to the Arts, Who’s Who in Music, Outstanding Women of America and Miami Mass Vanguard Award.
Dr. Brown employed by the School Board of Broward County, where she served as Band/Orchestra Director of Collins Elementary School and is the Founder/Director of the First Marching Band & Orchestra Program at McNicol & Gulfstream Middle School where they placed 1st Place in the State Music festival.
Director of Hallandale Youth Orchestra & The Palms Center For the Arts as seen on CNN as the Outstanding Arts program in the City of Hallandale. Also awarded Model afterschool arts program in Urban communities in the State of Florida during the League of Cities Convention, Orlando, Fl and Outstanding performance in Washington D.C. at the Whitehouse, World War 11, and Lincoln Memorial.
She presently serves as a licensed minister of the Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Quintin T. Wallace and Lady Elga Wallace of the Greater Hallandale Church of God where she serves as Praise & Worship Psalmist. She has served over 15 years as State and National Minister of Music for the Church of God and International Black Ministries, Cleveland, Tennessee where she was instrumental in developing a l00 voice State Choir and 300 Voice International Mass Choir in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Brown has written many songs including Gospel hit "Get Excited; recorded by the Miami Mass Choir and released her 1st recording project in 2000 "Lift Jesus Higher" "Victory Shall be Mine, GMW A Utah "Lift Jesus Higher" Southeast Regional Mass Choir Church of God and author of two books entitled "The Anointing of the Minstrel & Psalmist and ''The Ministry of the Choir."
Dr. Brown’s music expertise allowed her to serve as Vocal Coach for Television on Movie Star Robert De Niro in the movie CAPE FEAR, First African American female to lead worship and hymn at the Florida Baptist Convention. She served as host/founder for South Florida largest music Conference gathering under Southern Music Ministries with chapters in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan, Chicago, Washington D.C., New York, Ohio, Bahamas, Jamacia featuring Milton Bigg ham, Donnie McClurkin, Byron Cage, Vickie Winans, Timothy Wright, Elder William Murphy and James Hall and many more; presently the name has changed to Gathering of Worshipers; she has been an invited guest on the Word Network aired in Atlanta, Ga. And Now Dr. Brown!
