Corey P. Edwards is a singer, songwriter, worship leader, facilitator, choirmaster, producer and musician.
He currently serves as associate minister of music at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Miami Gardens and is founder and executive director of the Florida Fellowship Super Choir.
He was recently appointed as international regional vice president of music and worship of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc.
Edwards also serves as a member of the Gospel Music Council of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and choral director of Miami Lighthouse for the Blind United Voices.
He previously served as minister of music and worship at Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville and most notably at Bible-Based Fellowship Church in Tampa, under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Arthur T. Jones, founder of world-renowned Florida Mass Choir.
During Edwards' tenure, the Bible-Based choir was blessed to open for the Live Nation “King’s Men Tour” featuring Kirk Franklin, Israel Haughton, Marvin Sapp and Donnie McClurkin.
Edwards also served as executive host coordinator of the Dorinda Clark-Cole Regional Singers and Musicians Conference in Tampa which ironically was being hosted at Bible-Based on the very night of Dr. Jones' passing.
Edwards’ versatility as a musician and traditional organ touch gained him the attention of the Florida General Baptist Convention, where he served as state organist, and a facilitator in the State Congress of Christian Education. He was tapped in 2004 to join the Parent Body music staff of the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A. Inc.
In 2006, in Jacksonville, Edwards was appointed as praise and worship leader for the Florida Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship. In 2007, he recorded for the first time with the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship International Worship Team on the project “Embracing the Next Dimension.”
In 2012, he recorded his first original composition, “I Need Thee,” with the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) Mass Choir in Nashville. In the same year, he was blessed to lend his arranging talents to producer Myron Butler on a live recording project, where Dorinda Clark-Cole lead three of his featured arrangements.
In 2014, Edwards returned to GMWA to present his arrangement of “There Is a Fountain” to the New Music Division.
In 2015, he established the COED Music & Media Group and COED Ministries, of which he is president and CEO. During this time, he began to develop his passion for music production and recording. He produced demo projects for Abyssinia Baptist Church, The Florida General Baptist Convention and independent artist Phyllis Johnson.
In November 2016, Edwards released his debut single, “Daily Prayer,” which was inspired by the final sermon series preached by the late Rev. Dr. Arthur T. Jones. Edwards feels blessed to have been mentored by Dr. Jones during the later years of his life and ministry.
In this same year, Corey was appointed as SW regional vice president of the National Baptist Convention Music & Worship Arts Auxiliary.
In 2017, Edwards founded and established The Florida Fellowship Super Choir, with approximately 300 singers, songwriters, directors and musicians from across Florida. Their first public performance at the National Baptist Convention the prior year was also their live recording debut. The project was subsequently released in 2019 as “Rejoice: Live in Tampa.”
In 2019, he was appointed to lead the Pageant and Production Division of the Florida General Baptist Convention Congress of Christian Education.
In 2020, Edwards re-recorded his beloved anthem “Daily Prayer,” this time featuring the Florida Super Choir and his friend Pastor Jennifer Carner. It was released in January 2022.
In June 2022, the Florida Super Choir received acclaim and captured the $10,000 top prize as winners of the Large Choir Category, during the highly anticipated return of “How Sweet the Sound” National Gospel Choir Competition, hosted by Donald Lawrence and celebrity judges Dr. Ricky Dillard, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, J.J. Hairston and Jekalyn Carr.
Later that summer, they released their celebration single, “I Will Bless the Lord,” featuring Tremayne-Toombs Campbell.
Edwards has shared the stage with and prepared the stage for many of the gospel music industry’s best and brightest, including Byron Cage, Kim Burrell, Hezekiah Walker, William Murphy, Kurt Carr, Dr. Bobby Jones, Dorothy Norwood, Tim Rogers and Pastor John P. Kee.
In 2023, Edwards began his International tours across Europe with the Florida Fellowship Super Choir to include England and Italy.
Most importantly, Edwards is the proud father of two amazing children, Aiyana and Christopher. They are the greatest joys of his life and are the driving determination behind his life’s passion, purpose and goals.
